What Geeks Do For Fun...

Today, July 22, I made a pineapple upside down cake to celebrate a particularly 'geeky' holiday. Then, I challenged the kids to figure out what the occasion was and why I was making cake. It took a little while (and some mighty quick Goggling ) but someone finally figured it out.
(The artist, of all people. Go figure.)
So what's the occasion?
July 22 or 22/7 is Pi Approximation Day.
Why cake?
It's an approximation of Pi (Pie)

And to finish the event is fitting style, how about a geeky pi joke:
Mathematician to Baker: Pi r squared
Baker to Mathematician: No, pie are round. Cake are squared!

I thought Pi day is 3/14 at 1:59 pm! However, I like the pineapple upside down cake for pi approximation day! :-)
